Certified flame retardant treatment

A fire doesn't stop
after 15 seconds.

Most fabric ignitability standards apply a flame for seconds. Sapphire Flame Retardant is independently tested by FIRELAB under continuous flame exposure for a full 10 minutes — for curtains, drapes, carpets and soft furnishings in hotels, event venues, schools, hospitals and theatres.

What we treat

One product, applied wherever fabric meets fire risk

Sapphire Flame Retardant is a clear, halogen‑free, water‑based liquid that slows ignition and flame spread once applied. It does not alter the look, feel or colour of the treated material.

Compliance

Built for South African fire regulation

Treatment and certification aligned with the standards your fire consultant, venue, or insurer will actually ask for.

SANS 10400

Part T — Fire Protection

Supports fire safety compliance for new and existing buildings under South Africa's National Building Regulations, covering the flammability of internal fabric finishes such as curtains, drapes and soft furnishings.

SANS 10366

Health & Safety at Events

Relevant to stage and window curtains, draping, banners and set dressing at exhibitions, weddings, indoor and outdoor stages — where event organisers and venues are required to demonstrate fire safety measures.

Who we work with

Reach out before the flame does

Facilities and procurement teams, event coordinators and fire consultants use Sapphire to bring existing fabric and soft furnishings into compliance — without replacing them.

Hotels

Curtains, upholstery, function‑room drapes and carpets across housekeeping and refurbishment cycles.

Event Venues & Coordinators

Weddings, exhibitions, trade fairs and indoor/outdoor stages needing documented compliance per event.

Schools & Hospitals

Public‑occupancy buildings where soft furnishings and drapes fall under fire safety obligations.

Theatres & Stages

Stage curtains, backdrops, set dressing and film/theatre production sets.

A programme, not a once‑off

Treatment needs to be reapplied — we build that in

Independent NBRI testing found the treatment withstood up to five dry‑cleaning cycles without significant loss of effectiveness, but a single ordinary wash removed it. We schedule reapplication around your laundry and refurbishment calendar, so compliance stays current rather than expiring quietly.
