Services

From assessment to certificate, and back again next season

Sapphire treats fabric, timber and soft furnishings on site or supplies product for in‑house application, then keeps you compliant on a schedule — not a single certificate that quietly ages out of relevance.

What we offer

A full treatment & compliance service

01

On‑site assessment

We assess curtains, upholstery, carpets and timber elements across your property or venue and identify what needs treatment ahead of an event, inspection, or refurbishment.

02

Professional application

Our trained team applies Sapphire Flame Retardant by immersion (preferred, for the most even and consistent result) or by careful, evenly applied spray treatment where immersion isn't practical.

03

Product supply

Prefer to treat in‑house? We supply the halogen‑free, water‑based liquid directly, with application guidance for your team.

04

Documentation & certificates

Compliance documentation for your fire safety file and insurer, referencing our independent SANS 10177‑9 test results.

05

Scheduled reapplication

Annual or scheduled reapplication contracts timed to your laundry, housekeeping or refurbishment calendar, since ordinary washing removes the treatment.

06

Portfolio & group rates

Group‑wide rates for hotel chains, school groups and multi‑venue operators standardising on one flame retardant supplier.

How application works

Immersion is preferred; spray is acceptable when applied evenly

Application method affects consistency. Testing has shown treatment applied by immersion gives more constant, reliable results, while hand‑pump spray treatment — while effective — shows greater scatter if not applied carefully and evenly.

Immersion / dip treatment

The material is dipped into the solution and allowed to dry. This is our preferred method for consistent, even coverage — particularly for natural fibre and synthetic textiles.

Spray application

Applied by hand‑pump spray for materials that can't be immersed on site — timber, thatch, carpets and fixed soft furnishings. Requires careful, even application to match immersion‑level performance.

Why it's a programme

The reapplication cycle, explained plainly

01

Treatment holds up to normal wear

Pressing with a hot iron does not noticeably reduce flame retardancy, and the treatment is reasonably resistant to dry‑cleaning.

02

Dry‑cleaning: minimal impact

Independent testing found that up to five dry‑cleaning processes did not significantly affect the flame retardancy of treated material.

03

Ordinary washing removes it

One ordinary wash was sufficient to remove the fire‑retardant properties — this is the single most important thing your housekeeping team needs to know.

04

We schedule around your calendar

Reapplication is timed to your laundry and refurbishment cycle, so compliance is continuous and documented rather than a fading certificate.
